A.The operative parties referred to in this policy are the SITE and You, the User of this SITE.

1.The Website, www.insurancechoices.ca is hereinafter referred to as “SITE.”  Whenever first-person pronouns are used in this Policy, (Us, We, Our, Ours, etc.) these provisions are referring to www.insurancechoices.ca.  Additionally, when the terms including, but not limited to, “the SITE” or “this SITE” or “Our SITE” or “SITE” are used, these terms refer to www.insurancechoices.ca.

2.You, the User – As the User of this SITE, this Privacy Policy will refer to the User as “You” or through any second-person pronouns, such as “Yours,” etc.  Hereinafter, the User of the SITE shall be referred to in applicable second-person pronouns.

B.This Privacy Policy describes how We use information received about You when you visit Our SITE or when otherwise use Our online service.  This Policy does not cover any information that We may receive from or about You through channels other than through the use of the SITE.


II.Revisions to This Policy

We reserve the absolute discretion to revise, amend, or modify this policy and Our other policies and agreements at any time and in any manner. You should periodically check for any modifications of this Policy by re-visiting this web page and using the “Refresh” button on Your browser.  You should note the date of last revision to this Policy, which appears at the top of this Policy.  If the “Last Modified” date remains unchanged after You have clicked the “Refresh” button on Your browser, You may presume that no changes have been made since the last reading of the Policy.  A changed “Last Modified” dates indicates that this Policy has been updated or edited, and the updated or edited version supersedes any prior versions immediately upon posting.


III.Personal Information That We Collect

Visitors to Our SITE and services will have varying degrees of interactivity with Us.  Depending upon your level of interaction, we will collect different information about you.  The type of information collected is as follows:

A.Personal data about You when you give it to Us or explicitly consent for it to be given to Us. This generally occurs when You complete an online form, survey, quiz or questionnaire in which case You have chosen to consent to the collection and subsequent sale of Your personal data.

B.The minimum amount of information We need to be able to sell Your details to third-party vendors, so that Our client is able to contact You about their services and deliver effectively to You the service You have expressed interest in, or to fulfill a service contract, or to meet a legal obligation. How much data that We collect depends entirely upon the type of service in which you have expressed an interest.  This information can include:

  • First name and Last name
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Postal address
  • Gender and age
  • Employment status

C.Other than listed above, We do not collect financial information relating to you, such as bank card details.


IV.How We Collect Information From You

A.Passive Collection – We use cookies to collect information about You in order to enhance Your experience on the SITE.  The information collected in our cookies includes, but is not limited to, Your user IP address, browser information, your geographic location and other session data.  

1.We may also use ‘cookies’ on our website to provide a way for the SITE to recognize you and keep a track of your preferences, and to enable you to contact Us directly from the SITE. Cookies may also be used to optimize website speed for Your convenience; to allow You to customize Our web pages; and so that You do not have to keep filling in your details repeatedly.

2.Data collected via cookies does not usually identify You, but may be combined with other information to identify You. If We identify You using information from cookies, We may use that information to track how You use Our SITE and send You information more specific to Your needs.

B.Active Collection – We collect information from you when You complete questionnaires intended to facilitate your inquiries regarding potential insurance products and services. Locations for such collection include pages, such as www.insurancechoices.ca, but we reserve the right to add additional information collection portals.  

1.Our active collection is also associated with any advertising used on the SITE, and is specifically designed to attract individuals that may be suited for business products or services of Our clients.  A key purpose of this Privacy Policy is designed to enhance the transparency of the active collection of User date, its uses, and the efforts made to safeguard such information from inadvertent disclosure, including the safeguards established by the SITE to minimize the possibility of unlawful accessing and use.

2.SITE users also have the option of browsing Our SITE anonymously, although cookies may still be collected. You will not be able to access surveys or questionnaires when resorting to anonymous use of the SITE.


V.Storage & Disclosure of Data

A.All personal data provided by You to Us is stored at http://getcake.com, a third-party website designed to provide strict security over data and its protection, integrity, and confidentiality. While We do Our best to ensure the security of Your data, no storage is absolutely secure and We cannot guarantee the safety of Your data.  From getcake.com, Your data is then transferred to third-party insurance providers.  Such a transfer may include the transfer of information across borders depending upon the location of the third-party insurance provider. This means Your data may be transferred to, and stored, computers outside of Your state/province or country and the data protection laws may be different from those where you reside. By agreeing to this Privacy Policy, You agree to such a transfer.

B.Data is deleted from our storage at https://leadshook.com every thirty (30) calendar days. This means, if We have collected Your personal data, We will delete it within one-hundred, eighty (180) calendar days.  Please note, https://leadshook.com possesses its own privacy policy in relation to how it manages and stores Your personal information.

C.Collection of Data of Minors: We do not intend to collect the personal data of persons under the age of 18. If You are the guardian of a minor and suspect they may have provided Us with their personal information, please contact Us and request to have the minor’s personal information destroyed, using the contact information referenced, below. 

D.Data Rights:  At Your request, We will tell You what personal data about You is being processed, on what basis, and by whom.  If you decide Your data should not be processed for one or more purposes, You may withdraw Your consent from using Your data in that way.  Please note that We will action Your request as soon as practically possible; however, such a request will not take effect immediately and You may still, in the interim, be contacted by third-party affiliates.

1.You may amend inaccurate, incomplete or outdated personal data at any time by applying directly to Us using the contact information referenced, below.

2.You may also request that all personal data We have collected about You be deleted from Our records and erased from information stored by any third-party entities processing such data.  We have implemented an ongoing destruction process so that any collected data is securely destroyed within thirty-one (31) calendar days of its collection.

3.If data We have collected about you is processed using automated means, You have the right to receive that data in a structured, machine-readable format and to transmit it to another data controller without hindrance.

VI.How We Use Your Information

A. We sell Your personal data to third-party insurance providers, who may use Your personal data to contact You about products or services such companies marker, deliver and/or sell.  This use allows Us to align the products and services of such third-party insurance providers as closely as possible to Your individualized needs and situation.  These third-party insurance providers may, in turn, contact You to offer or market their services to You.

B. We share customer data with other third-parties to perform services on Your behalf, and obtain consent for such sharing where required by law or any applicable Google policies governing personalized ads and/or user consent including Google’s EU User Consent Policy, if applicable.  We process data by selling it and transferring it to third-party insurance providers to enable such companies to deliver to You, products, services and information that You have expressed interest in, or that are compatible with the reason You provided Your personal data to Us.  Your use of the SITE and the provision of Your personalized information constitutes Your consent for Us to engage in such activity. 

C. Once We have delivered Your personal data to a third-party insurance provider, that provider(s) becomes the controller of Your personal data; at such time, Your personal data will be safeguarded in accordance with that provider(s)’ own data privacy policy.  Once Your personal data has been delivered to such third-party insurance providers, We are no longer responsible for Your personal data. These third-party companies possess their own privacy policies in relation to the data they hold or process. You are at liberty to inquire of such third-parties regarding their their privacy policies, whenever you are contacted by them. 

D.We may also process your usage data (your IP address, geographical location, the manner in which you used our site etc) for our legitimate business purpose of monitoring and improving our website.

E.We will also disclose your personal data where legally compelled to do so, and as further discussed in Section VII, below.


VII.Special Cases  

It is Our policy not to use or share the personal information about Users in ways unrelated to those described in this Policy without also providing You with an opportunity to opt out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses. However, We may disclose personal information about Users, or information regarding Your use of the Services or websites accessible through our Services, for any reason if, in Our sole discretion, We believe that it is reasonable to do so, including: 

  1. To satisfy any laws, such as the Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”); the U.S. Electronic Communications Privacy Act; the U.S. Secured Communications Act; regulations; or governmental or legal requests for such information;

2.To disclose information that is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be violating Our Acceptable Use Policy (as discussed within the SITE’s Terms of Service), or other User policies; 

3. To operate Our Services properly; 

4. To protect Ourselves, Our Users, and the general public, We specifically reserve the right to disclose any and all information to law enforcement in the event that a crime is committed, is suspected, or if We are compelled to do so by lawful criminal, civil, or administrative process, discovery requests, subpoenas, court orders, writs, or reasonable request of authorities or persons with the reasonable power to obtain such process.  

5. We will always cooperate with law enforcement authorities, private-party litigants, and others seeking information about Our end users to the extent required by applicable law.  Examples of such cooperation include lawful criminal, civil, or administrative process, discovery requests, subpoenas, court orders, writs, or reasonable request of authorities or persons with the reasonable power to obtain such process.   


VIII.Transmittals From Us

We may send You periodic announcements including the details of Our existing and new programs.  You may opt-out of these announcements by contacting remove@________________.ca or by clicking the opt-out link at the bottom of these emails.  If You opt out of these marketing emails, You may still receive system notices and other information that is specifically related to Your account.  

If You provide your information to Us, and/or use the SITE, You will have created a commercial relationship with Us.  Even though the SITE does not intend to provide Users with emailed advertising materials, your use of the SITE and its services constitutes Your understanding and consent that even unsolicited commercial email sent from Us or third-party, affiliated companies is not SPAM, as that term is defined under the law.
